In November, Onepoto Primary School hosted the 30th Cultural Festival, a milestone event that brought together schools and communities from across Kaipātiki to celebrate cultural diversity and connection. The festival opened with a warm pōwhiri, setting the tone for a day filled with vibrant performances, music, and dance.
From kapa haka and Pasifika items to multicultural showcases, the event highlighted the rich heritage that makes Northcote such a special place. Families, students, and local stakeholders gathered to enjoy the festivities, creating an atmosphere of unity and pride.
Kāinga Ora’s Community Engagement and Partnership team was on hand to share updates about the development and our ongoing work to strengthen community ties. Being part of events like this is an important way for us to connect with residents, listen to their aspirations, and celebrate what makes Northcote unique.
The Cultural Festival is more than a day of performances—it’s a tradition that fosters whanaungatanga, builds relationships, and promotes a strong sense of belonging.
We’re proud to support and participate in events that showcase Northcote’s vibrant spirit. Here’s to many more celebrations that bring our community together!
