The Northcote community came together in November to celebrate a special milestone: welcoming new residents into 56 newly completed homes on Cadness Street. The completion of these homes marked an important step in Kāinga Ora’s vision to create thriving communities alongside quality housing.

This meet-and-greet event, held in the Cadness Whānau Room, was more than just a gathering; it was a celebration of connection, belonging, and the vibrant future of Northcote.

Residents played a key role in the welcome, preparing thoughtful gift bags filled with handmade harakeke flowers, individual carvings, biscuits, and local information, helping families settle in and discover everything Northcote has to offer.

This occasion highlighted what makes Northcote special – people coming together to build not only homes but a strong sense of place. By fostering relationships and encouraging community integration, we’re ensuring Northcote continues to grow as a welcoming, connected neighbourhood.
