Northcote is fortunate to have five schools – Northcote Primary, Onepoto Primary, St Mary's School, Northcote Intermediate and Northcote College.

Two of those schools sit right at the heart of the Northcote Development. They are Onepoto Primary and Northcote Intermediate. You can learn more about the schools from their websites. Both schools also have Facebook pages. Onepoto Primary's is here and Northcote Intermediate's is here.

The Education Review Office reports on all New Zealand schools. These reports can tell you a lot about the quality of a school and its staff. To take a look go to ero.govt.nz and type the school's name in the search bar.

Northcote is also home to AUT's north campus. The north campus caters for students in teacher education, health sciences, and sport and recreation courses.

The Onepoto Primary School rebuild

The Northcote Development is attracting further investment in the community. In May 2018 Education Minister, Chris Hipkins visited Onepoto Primary School to announce a $19.5m rebuild. The Minister said the rebuild would allow Onepoto School's roll to grow to 350, and more buildings over the next 10 years will take the roll to 950. Construction is due to begin in 2020.

Students are helping design a Greenway

Students from Onepoto, Northcote Intermediate and Northcote College are involved in the Awataha Greenway Project, contributing their ideas and feedback in regular project workshops. These workshops have captured the student’s vision for how the Schools’ Edge part of the greenway should look and function.
