Aucklanders are concerned about a shortage of housing – particularly affordable housing – and the government is responding with a large-scale initiative called The Auckland Housing Programme. The Northcote Development is part of this programme.

While we are building housing on a large scale we get the opportunity to ‘renovate’ the neighbourhoods we are working in so that they better meets the needs of our communities today. Many of Auckland’s streets, parks and essential services (in the pipes underground) were built more than 50 years ago and need renewing.

The Auckland Housing Programme offers us a big opportunity to make our city a better place.

The vision for Northcote is to increase the number and quality of homes available to residents to buy or rent, including Kāinga Ora social homes for Aucklanders who need housing assistance. At the same time we will be upgrading infrastructure and amenities like parks, streets, stormwater and wastewater systems and the town centre so that public places and essential services are brought up to date and made safer and more durable.
